In the first class of space and materiality we got to know about what is space?
I think space is the environment surrounding us. They can be of two types – a compressed space within four walls or a free space.
How does the space around us affect us?
In a space we are affected by both natural and artificial attributes.
Light is one source that affects us as well as the space around us. Because of light we perceive colour differently. We also discussed that light, colour, depth, shadows, tints, shades, types of materials we use in our spaces and how it affects us.
We then attended the workshop and learnt about how different equipments and machines work. We were given demonstration about how various filers, screwdrivers, drill machines and other machines function and what materials can be cut in the machines. It was a very informative session and gave us a brief about the various machines used to shape, cut and change the shape of various materials. Here are some of the machines.
