We started off this class by discussing about Calvino.
Italo Calvino was a writer, an essayist and a journalist who was born in Cuba in 1923 and grew up in Italy. His parents had a background of botany. He died in 1985.
We had various discussions about his books and his life in general.
We understood how important it is for us to know about an author. It helps us to understand the author’s point of view and perspective which helps us to understand his work in depth. We also understand what must have inspired him/her to write whatever he/she wrote.
‘Invisible Cities’ is a book in which Calvino talks about the city of Venice in 55 different ways. This inspired us to think how we can put down one thing in different ways and how everyone’s point of views are different to each other.
