ESSENTIAL SERIES (MIND LINES) [07-08-2019] MITALI MA’AM

In the very first mind lines class we learnt about the different rendering techniques and how it is necessary to simplify the way you see things. We were taught to think beyond reality and think in a more abstract way.

We learnt about the evolution of drawings through the ages and how humans first started drawings dots, then lines and then the concept of dyes and colours came into being. Humans first used natural elements from nature and used them as colours and then they started inventing chemical dyes and different types of colours. Humans in ancient times used stones and pointed objects to carve rocks and caves to make them pieces of art. After that machines were invented. Mitali Ma’am rightly said ” MICHAELANGELO would never carve the ceiling of Sistine chapel looking upward and have a permanent backache for ages if he knew machines could do the same work.”

We discussed about negative space which is the space around and between the subject of an image that can also be referred to as the background. It holds the design together.
