IMAGING [30-07-2019] JAI SIR

I was personally very excited for this class because I like working with softwares and exploring different ways of using them. We started with understanding the difference between RGB(red, green, blue) and CMYK(cyan, magenta, yellow, black) colours. RGB coloured printouts are slightly darker whereas CMYK colours are slightly lighter in print.

We understood the various file formats and looked for their full forms such as:

JPEG – JOINT PHOTOGRAPHIC EXPORTS GROUP

PNG – PORTABLE NETWORK GRAPHICS

PDF – PORTABLE DOCUMENT FORMAT

AI – ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR

DOC. – DOCUMENT

GIF – GRAPHICS INTERCHANGE FORMAT

We also understood where these file formats are used and how they differ from each other.

We understood that an illustrator file is accurate for text and portraits whereas a photoshop file is accurate for editing files and pictures.

There are some basic tools that are essential to work on illustrator. They are needed to form any basic line or shape. They are as follows –

  • selection tool(v) = select/move objects around
  • direct selection tool(a) = manipulate an object
  • shape tool = makes basic shapes like rectangles, ellipses, stars, polygon
  • pen tool(p) = create specific shapes
  • scissors tool = to cut a path
  • eraser tool = to erase something

Sir explained how we have to work with the requirements of the client and the restrictions given by them and and design accordingly by giving the best in us.

One thing I remember is when Jai sir said, “fall as many times as possible in the initial stages so that you don’t make those mistakes in the future. ” is something I’m very inspired by.
