I am very inspired by Jai Sir’s statement that is “When you start putting efforts, you do quality work”. He inspires us to not take work negatively and love what we’re doing.
We firstly spoke about ‘UMBRA AND PENUMBRA’ which is how the shadow falls
UMBRA is the darkest center portion of the shadow.
PENUMBRA is the half shadow that occurs when light source is partly obstructed by an object.
We studied different posters to understand the gestalt principle. Some of them are :
Marvel poster : It does not follow the gestalt principle.
Star trek poster : It follows gestalt and uses colour very well.
Jurassic park poster : It follows gestalt principles of continuity, proximity and similarity. It is an amazing example of a good poster and used colours and textures very well.
Kabhi khushi kabhi gham/mohabattein poster : It is not a good example of a gestalt. There is no empathy or relatability.
Sholay poster : It is an excellent example of gestalt and shows a lot in a subtle manner. It uses impressive colours and gestalt principles of continuity, similarity and direction.
Bharat petroleum poster : This poster shows oil drops in an oil drum with light falling on it and waves forming.
Whirlpool logo : We observed that this logo had a whirl wind on the ‘W’ which was later removed.
Boeing/Airbus logo : Boeing logo looks more like a fighter jet than an air(looks adventurous). Airbus logo on the other hand is simplier and looks safe and cozy.
We learnt about various tools like appearances, symbols tools, symbol sprayer tool, magic wand tool and the various functions of these tools.
