DRAWING [06-09-2019] SOLANGE MA’AM

We firstly began our class by discussing about the foliages and its shading. We discussed how depth can be shown while drawing foliages and how it is important to get the textures right. Here are some of my drawings. I used pencils, stipling, microtip pens and ball point pens to explore various textures and mediums.

After this we started with perspectives. Perspective drawing is drawing with the correct perspective in order to indicate depth on a two dimensional surface. It is used to make a three dimensional object/composition on a two dimensional surface. In order to draw a perspective drawing, we have to keep the following thing in mind – horizon, orthogonals and vanishing points.

  • HORIZON : Horizon is the horizontal line drawn through the picture indicating the line where the sky and land meet.
  • ORTHOGONALS : Orthogonals are the lines that meet at the vanishing point They represent receding parallel lines.
  • VANISHING POINT : Vanishing point is the point of convergence. It is the point of the horizon to which the receding orthogonals diminish. The number of vanishing points are equal to the number of point perspective drawing.
  • ZENITH : Zenith is an imaginary point drawn above the horizon.
  • NADIR : Nadir is an imaginary point drawn below the horizon.

There are seven types of perspective drawings : zero, one, two, three, four, five, six point perspective drawings.
