IMAGING [10-09-2019] JAI SIR

We started this class with adobe photoshop which is identical to adobe illustrator except that it works with raster images. Just as adobe illustrator, the left side has all the tools and the right side has panels for adjustments.. Illustrator is the process to make something whereas photoshop is the process to edit something. After this brief discussion, we learnt the basic tools. They are as follows :

  • MOVE TOOL : moves things around.
  • PEN TOOL : it is the same as illustrator but cannot be physically manipulated much.
  • CTRL+T : gives borders and anchor points, shapes can be scaled and modified.
  • SHAPE TOOL(U) : basic shapes can be made.
  • MARQUEE TOOLS : marquee tools are selection tools.
  • BRUSH TOOLS(B) : acts like a brush(has various modes, opacity, sizes).
  • CTRL+D : releases an object (used to deselect an object).
  • LASSO TOOLS(L) : allows selection of an object/shape by drawing around them.
  • POLYGONAL LASSO : gives straight lines.
  • ERASER TOOL : used to erase(size can be modified).
  • BACKGROUND ERASER TOOL : erases the background.
  • QUICK SELECTION TOOL : allows to click and drag through a space.
  • MAGIC WAND TOOL : picks up shapes that are similar in colour.
  • DODGE TOOL : brightens something.
  • BURN TOOL : burns/darkens something.
  • SPONGE TOOL : desaturates something.
  • CLONE STAMP TOOLS : allows to duplicate part of an image.

After this we did random editing to explore and understand how photoshop works.
