We started off this class by discussing what is time?
Time is a very vast and complicated concept. Everyone had different answers to this question : Time is a scam, time is a design, time is the base of existence, time is a circle, time is a direction, time is a machine, time is money, time is a perception, time is transition.
I think time is an illusion because one can’t see it but it still plays a very important role in our lives.
What is a narrative?
Narrative is a sharing of thoughts and experiences, making someone live in that moment. It is telling a story in sequence/order. A narrative should have a concept in it.
Our narratives were supposed to showcase time as an aspect and use time as a method of thinking and considering how people perceive time.
NARRATIVES :
⁃ Sea face, walking, peace, sunrise, sea link, having soup.
⁃ Station>Mac Donald’s>food>wet table>bottle opens>water in the bag.
In the start of the class we saw CHRONOS which is a short movie directed by Ron Fricke (released in 1985). The word ‘CHRONOS’ means personification of time. It composes of different timelines that takes the viewer on a journey through time, beginning at the dawn of civilization and following through to Paris in the present day and stops at some of the world’s great man-made marvels along the way. It has no dialogues but uses time lapse and different music which is a very creative way of making a film.
‘History of the entire world, I guess’ is an incredibly informative and entertaining video by Bill Wurtz. It is densely packed with jokes and surrealist graphics. It covers the beginning of time until the world today.
BIG BANG BIG BOOM is a stop motion animation which uses graffiti as he describes an unscientific point of view on the evolution of life and how it’ll probably end. I personally loved the way the artist has made this video and portrayed his perspective.
In the second half of the class we made our thumbnails and we were expected to take pictures of the narrative for the next class.
