This was a pretty chilled class because half of my classmates were absent.
I came up with some new concepts to make my book on. The aspect that I first chose was sculptures but I wasn’t sure if I could render it and get the textures right so I decided to go for some other aspect. I thought of either taking coinage or chess board pieces. After showing my ideas to sir, he told me that chess pieces was a very small topic to work on and it would be super boring so I decided to continue with sculptures. I decided to explore different sculpting styles and relate them to religion. Sir gave me ideas to render the sculptures. I didn’t want to take pictures from the Internet in my booklet so sir asked me to take reference pictures and then render it on paper first and then image trace it. I thought of using procreate to fill colours in my sculptures. I wanted my sculptures to look abstract but at the same time look like the actual one. So my main task was to convey the mood, form and essence of these sculptures.

After this discussion we went to see the books made by our seniors. I was so motivated by the efforts that they had put in making their books. Looking at a book or reading it sounds very simple but getting people to experience that feeling through colours, layouts and different rendering styles is a very difficult job.
I saw different kinds of binding that were used for different books. After talking to my seniors, I realised that even the type of binding chosen was not random. It had some logic or meaning behind it. Looking at their work I was even more excited to take up communication design and work in these exciting assignments. Our seniors had conveyed their own stories in unique ways which made me realise that writing and reading is equally important for every year. I realised that story telling was one of the things that I had to work on for my book also.
After this I started sketching some ideas for my cover page.
