This week we continued working on our imaginary cities essays as we now focused on the minutest of details like the story structure that it is able to portray the exact image of the city in the minds of the readers.I finalized my 6 essays of the imaginary cities for review next week. I chose the best 5 out of the 6 essays to go in my booklet and the sixth one as an extra draft for it.
MAGIJA
This is the ‘Floating City’ as one can call it, a city where magic comes to life. Magija is a city which has clouds as their land. The city where all houses stay in the sky and the sky is their ground. People have vacuum sucking their houses up in the atmosphere instead of air. This is a place where people can relax and breathe pure vacuum. There is an aromatic fragrance of the marshmallow clouds that never leave Magija’s atmosphere. What adds to the beauty of this city is the colourful circle of nature surrounding it which includes everything from flowers and leaves to mountains and water bodies.
Travelling in this city is always fun even though it only has two modes of transport. One is the slides that connects the entire city. While travelling on the slides, one has to only think of the place one wishes to go and the slides do the rest of the job of taking them to that place. The other mode of transport is the balloons which are equally convenient but can only accommodate one person at a time. No matter where you are, you will surely find these modes of transport in every nook and corner of Magija. It is said that there was a time when this city had trampolines as the main mean of transport but by time due to the changing atmosphere and the lack of gravity, it became difficult to the people to travel. There were cases when the people fell deeper in the sky and never returned.
Talking about the inhabitants of Magija, there are less than a hundred people that live over here. These people are not like the general humans found on the earth. They have a face with only one eye, hands and springs for legs. They are very loving, humble and generous towards each other. When a person in this city dies, their bodies are buried in the marshmallow clouds and by time it hardens which makes the land of Magija mighty and brawny. People in this city aren’t scared of death. They believe that even after death they always remain close to their near and dear ones to protect them.
This is a city where one can just be on their own but at the same time it will never let you stay isolated!
SUDBINA
‘What goes around comes around’ is quite a literal concept in Sudbina. This is the most candid city, filled with heartfelt emotions. It is more trustworthy than doctors. There is not a single trace of lie but only abundance of honesty found in this city.
In Sudbina, there is no judgement, no body shaming and no materialistic love. It is filled with positivity and love for emotions. The love felt over here is so angelic that its depth can’t be measure on any scale! This is the city in which people fall in love with souls and values not bodies.
Each morning a citizen can choose a different body, feature, colour. The main tasks of the citizens of Sudbina are yoga, meditating and worshipping the gods. The lifestyle in this city is slow and spiritual.
Sudbina believes in fate and destiny. The citizens of this city believe in gods and say tat he is the one who possesses the power of the entire universe. “As you sow, so shall you reap” is a concept that Sudbians strongly believe in and truly follow. For about more than a century now, people all around the world have wondered if this is positive or negative.
Not only does this city have bliss and happiness but also sticks and punishments. There is also a dark side of Sudbina. Karma is the main component here. It basically means that if one does something wrong to another citizen, the same is bound to happen to them. This city is like a mirror where every action has an opposite reaction.
Talking of the atmosphere, this city is full of colours. Everything in Sudbina is made of cool and warm tints, tones and shades of different colours. One can easily spot small flows of rainbow adding colours to Sudbina’s atmosphere.
In the outside world it is said that a trip to this city cleanses, energizes and rejuvenates the complete aura of a person. While leaving Sudbina, one requires the acceptance to understand that there is more to life than we think and know of. This is a city where hatred is no word and truth is the only answer. This city is very isolated and little do they know about the outside world.
BEHEMOTHN
Situated at a very low depth in the ocean, you will be amazed to know about the island-city of Behemothn. Separated from the rest of the ocean by a huge reef, this is one of the most isolated cities. Behemothn is haunted, intimidating and scary!
Your mind will be dazzled by the unique bright colors of houses this city had. It is nothing more than a few houses now, but before, it was considered to be one of the most breathtaking examples of architecture in the world. Though it is deserted now, it has a lot of power. It is said that once upon a time this island-city was located on the earth and was one of the richest and the most developed cities in the world. It was one of the most beautiful cities with beaches and icebergs going as far as one’s sight could capture and flora and fauna covering every deserted corner of Behemothn. It was known for the natural elements its was blessed with. People from all over the world would visit this island-city to see its scenic beauty. Who knew when the nature that holds the city together will turn into a peril that burns it down.
This abandoned city has a lot to tell about its inhabitants. They now have a secluded life and they mainly consist of ghosts and lifeless skeletons! In June 1879, a major destructive earthquake resulted in the entire city submerging in water. Around 10000 residents of Behemothn died in this disaster and since then people say that their souls have been roaming all around the city and haunt anyone and everyone who tries to enter this city. Once a beautiful living area, it is now nothing more than an eerie sight with scattered houses and souls.
Presently this city only consists of a few houses, wrecked bridges, broken windows, hanging doors, bits of bricks and some dead trees. Whoever tries to enter this city turns deaf and dumb. Scientists all over the world have tried to find the cause of this tragedy but it is still a mystery! Paranormal explanations by various scientists pins the blame of leftover technology responsible for people losing their senses.
Humans hardly dare to enter this haunted city so it will probably stay a mystery forever.
CONFEMA
Ever imagined if throwing around confetti on a birthday could turn into a city? Well that is what Confema is all about. This is where it gets the loving nickname ‘The Confetti Town’ from. This place is literally the life of the party. Everything extravagant, everything social, everything fun, you’re looking at Confetti town. The government’s been kind enough to keep this place having a perpetual golden sunset, beautiful beaches and cool ocean breeze. This city is like a party hall for all the other cities. Though other cities too have their own parties, the vibe that you get in Confema is nothing compared to them. Confema is musical, unpredictable, and liberating. An immortal fun fair.
People love the ambience and warmth that the city offers. It welcomes everyone with open arms. There are metallic open arms at the main gate of Confema. The city has floating fairies hired all around the city just to pick up and drop people from one place to another. Though everyone loves to come to this place for parties, there are hardly any residents in this city. Everyone works in shifts at Confema, because the place never shuts down. From a formal party to partying at the beautiful beaches or a yacht party, Confema has multiple options for every kind. The city is littered with white tents, containing soft cushions to sit on. These tents, just like the city’s inhabitants, are temporary.
Even with all the fun and thrill it gives, it has the lowest crime rate. It’s probably because everyone is too dazed to commit a crime. The only thing permanent about Confema are the psychedelics and the fun. The sad part about Confema is that is has an abundant supply of psychedelics. They’re powerful enough to make you assume that you’re back in your home city, doing human things. Maybe that’s why they’re so popular. People often go into a trance in search of something, hoping to find a place, an emotion, or a dream. These psychedelics are found in herbs growing in clumps around the outskirts of Confema. They affect the cardiovascular and nervous system of humans, but more interestingly, they mimic the slowing down of time. Isn’t that what everyone wants? For the entire world to simply wait for them to catch up. Life seems to slow down for a while after a visit to Confema. Maybe its because of the psychedelics that are present in the outskirts of this city. Even after all the cons, Confema is worth a visit.
ANTIQIA
The city of Antiqia is the most surreal city in existence. It is a perfect balance between fantasy and reality which is like a dream for most humans around the world; but once you’ve entered Antiqia your dreams come true. This city is situated in an old fathomless cave which has openings at the top. These openings allow a large gush of sunlight to fall upon the city.
The houses in this city are under the ground with opening doors at the top on the house’s ceiling. There is no concept of transport in this city. One only walks in Antiqia; no cars, no bikes, no cycles, no flights and also no roads! People in this city walk on the roofs of the houses. The roofs and the roads and the doors are the signages for directions. Every door in this city has a different colour and shade and each colour is equally beautiful. The doors are wide enough for ten humans to pass by, all at once.
The city is made of three communities which live together in harmony, although the elderly prefer staying in secluded places. Each community of Antiqians have their own identity and are important for the city in some way or the other. One thing everyone should learn from this city is to find pleasure in every little thing. They keep having small celebrations to keep everyone happy. They celebrate their kids’ first hunts, completion of the wall paintings and obviously festivals. They look more like the early men than present humans. The Antiqians never leave their caves. It is considered to be divine.
Antiqia is not as developed as the outside world but they are very alluring and will always invite you with open arms.
