‘PARTS OF A WHOLE’ was the next project we had to work on. Since this was the first class after the review week, it was pretty chilled. We didn’t really go in the depth of this project but had discussions about the same in which we spoke about design as a ‘whole’ and the various ‘parts/categories/elements’ that form this ‘whole’. We took the example of branding as a category for a restaurant which is the whole and we then spoke about the various elements in branding such as logo design.
We even spoke about the importance of these categories and elements. A company needs branding for popularity, impression, presence, recognition, business. Logo design was one of the elements that we spoke about which includes graphics, visual representation, words, symbols, colour, tagline, typography, etc. I realized that these small elements had smaller sub-elements in it. After this we made mind maps for the discipline that we wanted to choose next year.
